PhotoniCore began from side-pump combiners to fiber laser engines in Taiwan

PhotoniCore Technologies (abbr. PCT) R&D center located at ITRI South, Tainan, where we have developed unique side pump combiners for mass volume manufacturing of the world’s leading multiple side pump reverse combiners.

The side pumps that we create enable 3D printing machine to produce unparallel processing quality while reducing damage caused by backward reflections during laser system operation. In fact, the technology is so advanced and so much in demand, that has led to PCT becoming a highly sought-after technology firm in the laser industry.

PCT designs and manufactures side pump combiners that are used to make Fiber Laser Engines, which are some of the most advanced fiber laser engines in the world. PCT’s technology is used in additive laser machines with precise and efficiency manufacturing.

Fiber Laser machines are made by building up various patterns of engines and Laser pumping diodes block by block onto electrical switches and controls. They are powered using a laser resonator design and LD pump system , where lasing is projected through an optical fiber channel of those optical passive and active components spliced together. The Laser is then focused onto the material to be processed for cutting, welding or additives manufacturing.

The crucial aspect of our advanced engines is that they generate a fine, extreme laser pattern while fully eliminating the risk of backward reflections potentially bouncing off the processed materials. This is achieved through our bi-directional side pump combiner construction.

Using our technology is like using a fine liner to draw lines on the processed material, whereas older generation machines might be drawn by a marker pen. Additionally, the bi-directional pumping ensures powerful and smooth laser strength without compromising operation efficiency while effectively isolating backward reflection bouncing during operation.


We will continue to conduct in-depth research on single cavity fiber laser engine technology and strive to achieve the development of 5kW fiber laser engine. Our goal is to reduce energy consumption, promote the efficient and reliable multi-tens watt class laser system, and ultimately contribute to the achievement of energy conservation and carbon reduction goals.
Additionally, we will focus on developing automated production processes for high-power combiners to meet the wide-ranging demands of the market.
